With the multi rotor loaded up, we set out for ADRL (American Drag Racing League) in Rockingham, NC at the speedway drag way. Dragsters from all over the world got together in September 2013 to win some series cash money.
The weather was perfect. Blue sky, 0 mph winds and 75 degrees! Perfect environment for flying.
The first thing I was glad I bought was ear plugs. The engine sounds will blow your ear drums in seconds without the correct ear protection. It’s amazing to watch 3,000 horse power rip down a track at 200+ mph! Quite impressive.
When we got the multi rotor setup and calibrated, we started shooting towards the end of the track. ADRL was generous enough to give us full access. We were able to capture some nice push in’s. After a few test runs, we had to increase the gains control on the gimbal just so we would keep up with the screaming dragsters.
After a while we moved to the starting line to get some nice follow shots. A few shots I was able to reach 50 mph with the multi rotor. That’s only 1/4 of the speed of the dragsters. Kind of pitiful on our part, right?
